Story

Vergil and his younger twin brother Dante were the offspring of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda and the human Eva, living in a secluded mansion close to Red Grave City. During their childhood, Vergil frequently had disputes with Dante over various matters, trained alongside him under their father's guidance, or spent time reading with Yuki, a neighbor.

Prior to Mundus' assault, Vergil developed a strong fascination with literature, particularly poetry, which led him to visit a man who shared this interest. He immersed himself in numerous literary works, eventually gravitating towards the poems of William Blake. One day, the man gifted Vergil a collection of Blake's poetry, prompting Vergil to inscribe his name on the back cover. When the man inquired about his relationship with Dante, Vergil shared details about their bond, which the man grasped. This book became a cherished possession for Vergil, remaining with him throughout his life, even into adulthood.

Not long before their eighth birthday, Eva gifted each of the twins a half of the Perfect Amulet. Around the same time, Sparda vanished and subsequently died under mysterious circumstances, leaving Eva and the boys exposed and vulnerable. Yuki also disappeared during this period. After these events, demons sent by Mundus, the Prince of the Underworld, invaded their home, igniting part of it in flames. During the chaos, Vergil was playing alone at a nearby playground and was likely ambushed. He eventually found himself in a cemetery encircled by demons. Witnessing his house ablaze in the distance triggered his inner demon, and he used Yamato to eliminate all the demons. Following this incident, Vergil fled, believing that his mother had forsaken him—a belief that would torment him throughout his life. In truth, Eva had been killed while desperately searching for him.

Years went by, and events from the DMC manga unfolded, during which he rescued Yuki and later entrusted her to Dante/Troy. A year afterward, the DMC3 storyline occurred, leading him to Elyasia.

[Note: Yuki is Salya's oc for Vergil. She will be added to Elyasia at some point.]
