Dai, The Green Dragon

Dai turned around and smiled. A beautiful smile- a cold smile. A Human smile. For she was no longer a Dragon, but a Human….. Then in the blink of an eye, she changed back into a Dragon, unfurled huge wings and took to the sky.

Had it been only yesterday she left? Had it only been yesterday that her former master met his demise? It was true, but she didn’t care. The only thing that mattered now was filling her stomach. It had been roaring for the past few hours. She flew high above the clouds; it would be much easier to find food that way. Her prey would more than likely see her and run, but she didn’t feel like taking chase even though she would be able to catch it.

After a while she found herself flying over some mountains. Their peaks rose through the clouds. Down below she heard the cry of a Hawk Demon. She smiled and licked her fangs, and then she dived. Faster and faster she went hurtling through the sky, when she saw her prey her wings opened wide and before it could even see her, she burned it alive. After it had fallen to the ground she ate in a quick bite. With her meal done she took to the skies once more.

Dai had found it so annoying that she couldn’t fly free. Those other Dragons were looking for her. More than likely they would kill her if they found her. She decided to take advantage of her former master’s gift and transformed into her Human form. It took a little while but soon she was in a small forest. She sat on a rock near a small pond. She looked into the water and saw herself. In this Human form she had long raven hair that went down her back. She was of average height, and her body was muscular. The thing that stood out most though was the rune on her chest. It was a blood red color and she pondered why it was there. After a while she figured it out. The rune was one of protection. But she wondered if it still worked considering the mage was gone. It didn't matter anyway; she had no problem protecting herself.

Later she saw them. The other Great Dragons were flying in opposite directions. She thought about it for a second and decided that they were not looking for her; rather they were looking for what damage her former master had caused. With the other Dragons away she decided to go back to Jayetha's home. Quickly she hid herself and transformed into her Human form. Later the other Dragons returned and the First were discussing something. Curiosity took control and she kept a vigil over them.

Her eyes went wide as she saw what was happening. One by one the First were doing what Ryoko-Ashi had done. Releasing their power and souls from physical bodies they all granted the worlds' gifts. One thing intrigued her most, the sight of white horses with a single horn atop their heads. Those creatures ran through the land until they were out of sight. Then almost as quickly as it began it was over. The First had done their mission, and they were no longer apart of these worlds. She saw Zen lie down and close his eyes. She knew she could go by unnoticed as he would not move ever again. She was now free. Those Dragons now had to protect the Humans and she could avoid them entirely as long as she knew where they were headed.

Centuries Later

She was upset. Her season had started and she dreaded it. Now more Dragons would be coming for her. The last thing she wanted was to get mounted by some random Dragon. Unfortunately no matter how much she disliked it, there was no way she could stop it.

Finding comfort atop a mountain she took a nap. After a few hours the sounds of roaring awoke her, and soon the sky was filled with Dragons. All of them were male, and all of them were fighting for her. They clashed in the sky and the sound of roars filled the sky. Flames licked the sides of the mountains. Soon only five Dragons remained, and one by one they fell. The battle was over and the winner was approaching her. Knowing he would try to mount her, she led him to believe that she was ready. As soon as he was close she slapped him with her tail. He stumbled and fell. To her anger he was getting back up to mount her. She found it so annoying that they would not give up until her season ended.

And so she fought him. She slashed at him with her claws and impaled him with her fangs. He tried to overpower her, but to no avail. Dai was superior in size and strength. Within minutes the battle was over and what was left was the bleeding carcass of a Great Dragon. With her fight done, Dai smiled, and her body was tinted red from the blood.

Leaving the mountain Dai searched for a lake where she could clean herself up. Upon coming overhead a lake of suitable size she transformed. She landed gracefully onto the ground. Staring into the water she looked at herself. Even in her Human form she was covered in blood. Her body almost matched the color of the rune on her chest.

Stripping her clothes, she stepped into the water. She buried her head beneath the lakes surface and the blood was washing out. All over her body she was shedding the substance of death. Suddenly Dai could sense something, or someone. She turned and saw a flash of white pass her. Something had been watching her, but it fled. The green Dragon wondered why she hadn't sensed it's presence before. Quickly she took to the skies and left.

She was coughing up blood, and lots of it at that. How could she have been so careless? Dai was currently in the middle of a fight. Normally the only other thing that could hurt her was another great Dragon, but this creature was able to pierce her flesh so easily. Iomeloth wasn't playing around when he made those creatures, those Unicorns. She thought those horns were only for show. She was horribly mistaken. The battle began after Dai had finished up a quick hunt. It was a Human. She found them to be delicious. Unfortunately a Unicorn had seen what happened and as soon as Dai finished eating he charged at her. She was able to dodge it but quickly it changed direction and tried again. This time she decided to attack and breathed her terrible flames at the Unicorn. Her flames scorched the earth and she thought she had killed it. Then suddenly the Unicorn shot out of the flames and as quickly as she saw it, she was impaled in the chest.

Dai changed into Human form and clutched her chest. Blood was pouring out of it and intense pain was making it all the more excruciating.

She had to leave now, or else she would be killed. The only problem was how to get the Unicorn away. Then it came to her, she would distract it with a spell. During her time with Ryoko-Ashi, he had taught her a few simple spells. One of which was to create a blinding light. If she timed it right she would be able to stun the Unicorn long enough to take to the sky.

Dai began to taunt the Unicorn. She made faces and churlish remarks at it. Soon she could see the anger in its eyes. She began to chant, the Unicorn dashed for her with the intent to finish her off. Soon it was only a few feet away and her spell ended. A brilliant flash engulfed the area and the Unicorn stumbled and fell. Its head was shaking and it was blinking trying to get rid of the flash. Dai took this opportunity and changed back into Dragon form. High into the sky she flew, to what was now called the Western Lands of Demon World.

Many Days Later It had been a long and tiring flight. With her chest bleeding and having lost lots of blood, Dai was in terrible pain. Her wings were heavy and she was beginning to pale. Her breathing was shallow. Luckily she had reached her destination, Ryoko-Ashi's Tower.

Time had forced its way inside and brought the tower down. Amazingly though his library was still there. It was partially underground, but otherwise fine. Her former master must have put a spell on the library so his things would not be destroyed. He was still helping her, even though he was dead. Dai found that some of his books were lying on the floor. She got on top of them and stretched out. They were comfortable, and Ryoko-Ashi wouldn't be using them any time soon. Even eternity might not be enough to make him change his ways.

Dai once again assumed her Human form. She began applying herbs that she collected. These would help clean out her wound, and to prevent it from getting infected. After she finished Dai felt tired. That fight had been one of the most exhausting things ever to happen to her.

Now all she needed was a nap, and a long one at that. And so she slept.

No one would know of her adventures and trials after Ryoko-Ashi's demise. No one would know how Dai had almost died. Her sleep would last for centuries. And just like her many Dragons would begin to sleep. And it would be because of Humans learning of the power of Unicorn horns. Dai was first to learn of that power, and the first to see it in action. But one thing was for certain, when her hibernation ends, the worlds will feel her wrath.

Centuries Later

It would be centuries later, that someone would find her. It would be two mages, Ed and Al, and lucky for them Dai still remained sleeping. They were trying to reach the books of Ryoko-Ashi and find spells unrivaled in power; unfortunately they were sealed with a spell.

They both knew that Dai awakening would cause hell for the world. They made sure she would not awaken. "Al and Ed wove a spell of their own -- a spell of sleep on the Dragon."

In her dreams Dai could tell something was making her sleep longer. Some spell was keeping her sleeping. Whoever was causing this would pay the ultimate price, their life. Still it would be many years before she would finally wake up. She would have her revenge, but only on one of those mages. "... A pile of smoldering ashes -- all that remained of a brave man."
