Chapter 12

Upon his return home, Aya immediately went to Mikoumi's home and told them about the plane, the distance and the search for a new Demon. And then he pulled his rope bracelet from his pocket. He had purposely forgotten to return it. Kurama took it gratefully. Aya told Kagome that he had given Kouga her message. She saw the guilt in his eyes, and put an arm around his shoulders. "Do whatever you must. Both Kouga and I will understand." "I tried not to participate, but…." Aya began, his voice hoarse with emotion.

"Shush! It is all right. You must not call attention to yourself or all will be lost." Kagome repeated, her eyes sincere.

Aya nodded and then said, "Oh, I heard the mage's name again. It's Jodah."

Kurama blanched white -- so the Seiryuu mage had survived after all! This was not just a moneymaking scheme -- this was also revenge! Kurama thanked Aya profusely, and Aya left them, telling them to call him whenever they needed him to return. After his departure, Kome and Kurama left immediately for Otherworld, needing to talk to Bakura and the Princess. Kagome stayed in the Human World just in case something happened and Aya needed to contact them.  Besides Kouga was in the Human World and she felt a little bit closer to him by being in the same world.

Once through the portal, Kurama and Kome went to Kaede's Village, where Kome returned to his own mate, Ayala, to spend a few days with her before he returned to the Human World.  Kurama went to Hiten's home, and Hiten flew Kurama to the Castle. When they reached the Castle, they heard the terrible news.  Aniki had gone missing the day before.

A meeting was hastily called.  Now Kurama wished that he had come home sooner, but until Aya returned, there had been no news.

"They are being held captive on an island by Jodah." There were gasps from the table and Bakura's look was grim. No one hated Jodah more than Bakura, who had almost died at his hands. "Kouga and Tekki were auctioned off as sexual toys for exorbitant fees. Kouga went for Five Million Dollars. They are being held on an island, under magic wards and have holding spells on them in the form of ropes. Probably the whole island is warded. We have no idea where the island is but we do have someone who is helping us."

"Who?" The Princess asked.

"A human named Aya, the lover of the man who bought Kouga. He can go to the island with Sakio once a week."

"Kouga is being used by another male?" InuYasha asked, his face ashen.

The Dog Demon was so young and inexperienced! Kurama thought and then realized with horror that Kouga had been equally inexperienced.  And now he was a rich man's plaything!

"Aya told us that they are beginning to look for another Demon, only this time not for auction, but as a special request, for a fee of Ten Million Dollars.  I think this was why Aniki was taken."  Kurama continued.

"Ten Million? Why so much more than the others?" Hiten asked.

"Aya said that Jodah was looking for a young Demon. A boy."

InuYasha began to growl, "There is no way we are going to let them do that to Aniki! I will go to the island and hack them all to pieces with my Tetsusaiga!"

"InuYasha, settle down!" Kurama cautioned. "First, we do not where the island is. And it is warded against us -- only Jodah's plane can land on the island. And second, Jodah is deadly. He almost killed Bakura and might have if it were not for Malik's sacrifice."

"And he can create portals wherever he wants to, so we will have to guard every person in Otherworld and Demon World." Toya added.

"I believe that Kouga and Tekki were taken partially for revenge, but Aniki was for money only.  I doubt if Jodah knows who Aniki is."

The meeting continued for a while longer but with no results.  They didn't know where the island was, and it was warded by Jodah.  Something had to be done, but what?

Late that night, Aara was sitting on her balcony, her head bowed. Now Aniki was in the hands of Jodah!  She heard a soft knock and called out "enter." Hiei walked out onto the balcony.

"I was worried about you." The Princess lifted a tear-streaked face and Hiei wrapped his arms around her. She buried her head in his shoulder, and he comforted her for the first time; before she had always comforted him. "I will not let anything happen to Aniki. I swear it," he whispered.

After he left the Princess, Hiei went to see Bakura.  What he proposed was very risky, but he was not going to stand by idly while Aniki and the others were used like that. Bakura was still awake, busy with the rope, trying to create a potion that would nullify its power.  He looked up when Hiei approached him. Hiei's plan was simple but very dangerous -- for himself.  He would shadow Aya and when he and Sakio went to the island, Hiei would sneak on the plane.  If the barrier was warded against demons who were not captives, then Hiei would die when the plane passed through the barrier.  If it wasn't, he would survive.  Of course, if they found him, then he would be captured and enslaved or killed.   Bakura gave Hiei a crystal which would create a small portal when triggered.  There was only one problem.  Because of the island wards, the portal would work only one way.  Hiei could get the others out, but no one could cross to the island to help him. Hiei would be on his own.

It was almost dawn when Bakura finally made the potion to counteract the magic in the ropes.  Once Hiei drank it, the potion would only work for 12 hours.  He had to get to the island as soon as possible, before Aniki was used by whomever bought him.  After giving him the crystal and enough potion for Hiei and the captives, Bakura opened a portal -- right into Mikoumi's back garden.  Hiei slipped through and the portal closed behind him.  Bakura sighed -- hoping that Aara would not question him about Hiei.  He may have sworn to keep this a secret, but if the Princess questioned him, her power would force him to tell the truth.
